Gum Arabic – Resin of the Acacia Senegal
The Acacia tree, also named Acacia Senegal originates in Africa, in semi desert areas, and grows in the southern part of the Negev in Israel too.
As of the first century AD, the Acacia tree was known to have medical characteristics. Its name was given to it by the Greek doctor and botanic scholar – Pedanius Dioscorides, who originated its name from the Greek word, Akis – which means, summer.
In ancient times the resin was used as a medication, and it is even mentioned in the Talmud (a collection of ancient Hebrew writings), with reference to its anti-inflammatory and wound-healing characteristics. The resin is extracted by means of cutting into the bark, and is composed of a mash-up of transparent or light yellow polysaccharides and glycoproteins.
The Acacia resin has an immense effect on the skin. It lifts the skin and shrinks the tissue, all expressed in smoothing the texture of the skin and forming a smooth and uniform appearance of the skin, the effect of which lasts for hours.
Salicylic Acid –Willow Tree
Salicylic acid is named after the Latin name of the Willow – Salix, and it is found in the white substance within the cortex of the Willow. It is a key component in anti-aging, thanks to the range of its skin healing and rejuvenating effects, and specifically its ability to accelerate the process of skin regeneration. The Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic substance, which means it causes the external cell layer of the skin (the Stratum Corneum), to peel off, while making room for regenerated growth, and increases the absorption abilities of many quality nourishing substances. Research has shown that Salicylic acid improves the thickness and firmness of the skin, is beneficial to the formation of collagen, and it also reduces wrinkles, roughness and hyperpigmentation when used on regular basis. Salicylic acid dissolves in oil and therefore smoothly penetrates the skin, clears the pores from within and removes the remains of lipid and dirt.
The acid is an anti-inflammatory, and because of that, causes no irritation. In fact, it reduces sensitivity due to its unique composition, which is similar to (and related to) aspirin – known to be anti-inflammatory.
Allantoin – Comfrey plant
The Comfrey has been used in medicine for many years. Its roots and leaves contain large amount of Allantoin, which encourages the regeneration of skin tissues and assists in healing and softening of the skin. Allantoin is an anti-inflammatory; it is efficient for contraction of the blood vessels and soothing the skin. Olive oil is oil extracted from olives, and is considered to be the finest of all oils. It has typical and subtle flavor and its uses vary. In ancient times olive oil was used as a raw material for producing beauty care products, soap, lubricants for the body and hair products.
Olive oil consists mostly of oleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid, which is beneficial for the prevention of heart disease, blood and blood vessel disorders.
The composition of the fatty acids of olive oil is similar to those in breast milk and are optimal for absorbing calcium.
